2,716 quarterly lobbying reports of the 25,502 we compared were posted after the due date, from 1,101 registrants.
The Lobbying Disclosure Act asks each registrant to file a report for each quarter no later than 20 days after the quarter ends (2 U.S.C. 1604(a)): by January 20, April 20, July 20 and October 20.
We compare the date LDA.gov gives as the report's posting with the due date. When the 20th falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, we count the next business day as the due date. An amendment to a report is not counted. A report posted after the due date is listed with the number of days after it.

A lobbying report states the registrant's income from the client (a lobbying firm) or its own lobbying expenses (an organization lobbying for itself), for the whole quarter and every issue together. A report of less than $5,000, or of no lobbying activity, states no figure. It is not the amount spent on one bill.
